I recently learned that the dragonfly is a symbol of change, transformation, and adaptability. In the Japanese culture it symbolizes courage, strength, and happiness. I was excited to learn this as I have some beautiful dragonfly stamps and stickers that I love!
I love how this card turned out even though it was so simple to make and hardly took any time at all. Just a little bit of ink blending, stamping and fussy cutting.
As usual, I made the card base from Recollections 110lb white cardstock paper in the A2 size (4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch). The card is blank inside for the sender to write their own personalized greeting.
For the card front, I cut white cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼ inches and used a finger sponge dauber to blend some Catherine Pooler Tranquil ink on the bottom left corner, about a third of the way up and also on the top right corner about a quarter of the way down.
For the sentiment, I stamped ‘let your dreams take flight’ in the top right corner using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and embossed it using Recollections clear embossing powder. On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped and embossed a dragonfly using the same VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and Recollections clear embossing powder.
I adhered the card front to the card base using Craft double sided glue tape. Next, I fussy cut the dragonfly and attached the body of the dragonfly to the card using Bearly Art precision glue. The 110lb cardstock is so nice and thick that the body stays nicely attached to the card while the wings and tail lift slightly off the card, giving it that nice, flying effect. I really like this and will probably make some similar ones in the future.
