Teapot

I recently got this adorable new stamp set called My Cup of Tea from Crafter’s Companion. The set contains teacups, cookies, a cute teapot, and more. I tend to drink more coffee than tea myself, but there are certain evenings that a nice hot cup of tea is just the perfect thing to have. The sentiments that are in this set are perfect too.

The first thing I did was stamp the teapot onto a piece of pale blue designer paper from a pack called Lost & Found My Mind’s Eye Portobello Road. I used my MISTI to position it properly and stamped it with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set it with Recollections clear embossing powder.

I’m not the greatest at fussy cutting yet, but I cut out this teapot. I wanted a nice clean cut along the black line so after it was cut, I took a black Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen and went around the edges to fix any errors I’d made in cutting. I learned this trick from Natasha Foote. Check her out on YouTube as she makes great cards!

I used my go to A2 card made from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. I wanted to give the white a bit of color, so I pulled out my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and decided to blend some weathered wood along the edges of the card. When I had the edges done and set the teapot on it, I realized the center needed ink too, so I quickly inked that up as well.

Upon placing the teapot on the inked up card, I found that the colors were so similar that the whole thing looked a little washed out. It needed another color for contrast, so I dug out another pad of designer cardstock in different shades of grey. I picked out one that had a nice floral pattern. I cut the grey floral paper to fit the card base leaving a slight border. I didn’t measure it, just eyeballed it.

Next, I chose the sentiment and stamped it onto the teapot. I chose one that says, “I can’t make it better but I can make tea”. I used my MISTI, this time with the sticky mat. I stuck the teapot on, lined up my sentiment, and before inking up the stamp, I put some packaging from a stamp set over the teapot. I inked the stamp up with the same ink and stamped it down, checking to see if I liked the placement. It was good so I cleaned off the packaging and removed it, inked up the stamp again and stamped it onto the teapot. I decided to stamp it a second time to make it a little darker. I heat set it with the clear embossing powder.

To assemble the card, I used Forever In Time glue tape runner to adhere the grey cardstock to the card base. I used Bearly Art glue to glue down the teapot to the center of the card base. I added three little clear gems around the teapot, gluing them down with Bearly Art glue.

I hope this card brings a smile to the face of whoever receives it. It’s true that we can’t always make things better for people but we can sit with them in their pain, be a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, arms to hug, or just quiet peace as we sit with them and drink a nice hot cup of tea.
