Sending Hedgehugs

As it’s now January, I will most likely be making several Valentine’s cards over the next while. Of course, they’ll be mixed in with birthday cards as I really need to make a bunch for some upcoming birthdays. Some of the Valentine’s cards I’ll make could also be used for other occasions. For example, this one could be for Valentine’s Day, a birthday, or simply to send to a friend.

I did make a video of the making of this one which is up on my youtube channel. The short version will be written here.

I started with an A2 card base that I made from Recollections white 110lb cardstock as well as a 4 x 5 ¼ inch white panel. My plan was to stamp diagonally on the center of the card, then emboss the panel, cut it diagonally, and adhere part to the top and part to the bottom.

I used an adorable hedgehugs stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I stamped the two hedgehogs using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink. For the ‘sending hedgehugs’ sentiment and the hearts I used VersaFine Clair tulip red ink.

I used a heart embossing folder to emboss the panel. My struggle came when I tried to figure out where to cut the panel. I ended up adding some pencil marks and cutting based on the markings. I adhered the top and bottom with Tombow Xtreme adhesive leaving the center open to reveal the stamping I’d done. It turned out quite well, as I’d envisioned it in my head.
