Friend Birthday with Purple Flowers

I have many birthday cards to make and send this year and this is my first one. This is going out to a dear friend and penpal and I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.

I placed the white card panel in my MISTI so I could line up the stamps and stamp them all at once. I used several stamps from the Happy Day stamp set by Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. Using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink I stamped the words ‘happy birth day friend’ as well as two flowers and a butterfly. I embossed them with Recollections clear embossing powder.

Using Tim Holtz wilted violet distress oxide ink and a domed foam blender, I colored the flowers, allowing the color to go outside the lines to kind of loosely mimic watercolor. For the leaves I used lucky clover distress oxide ink. The butterfly is colored with picked raspberry distress oxide ink.

I adhered the panel to a purple card base. On the inside of the card, I adhered a white panel as the personalized message wouldn’t show up as well on a purple background.

I had fun making this birthday card, the first of many I’ll make this year. Whatever it is you choose to do today, I hope you choose to have fun doing it!
