Shine Like the Stars

In my part of the world right now winter is just beginning. This means the hours of daylight are not as long and we have more hours of darkness. The sun sets before 4:00pm. This bothers some people as some prefer more light over darkness. One thing to remember though is that in the darkness, the stars shine brighter.

For this card, I ink blended Tim Holtz distress oxide inks in both faded jeans and black soot. When the ink was dry, I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder. The sentiment I used was from a Tim Holtz set – THMM113. I then used Tim Holtz brushed pewter distress mica spray and Recollections silver glitter mist and splattered both all over the card. I also used a tiny paintbrush and platinum paint to dab tiny spots all over to look like stars shining in the distance. The focal point of this card is this gorgeous die by Uniquely Creative called stacked stars. I cut it from holographic foil cardstock and silver matte cardstock.

I hope this card reminds you that, like the stars, you can shine in the darkness. It doesn’t matter what is going on around you, there is light within you. Shine your light for others to see. You don’t know what impact that can have on another person. Maybe it reminds them that there is still light even though they may be going through a dark time. Maybe it reminds them that they, too, can shine in the darkness. Let your light be a beacon of hope for someone else. Shine like the stars.
