Just a Note

I’m still happily making cards even though I can’t send any yet. Canada Post has been on strike for 4 weeks now and my cards are piling up! I make a lot of cards, and I mail a lot of cards. I have several penpals around the world that I mail cards to, as well as friends and family. I’ll have plenty to mail when the strike is over!

I created this card specifically for one of my penpals. I love the journal/letter writing ephemera that I chose for this card. Before gluing the ephemera onto the card base, I used some Tim Holtz spun sugar distress oxide ink to blend some light pink around the edges of where I would glue the ephemera. I also used a small paintbrush dipped into my little jar of Winsor & Newton gold ink to add some subtle gold splatters to the background. When the ink was dry, I glued the ephemera onto the card.

For the sentiment, I chose the Poppy Stamps sentimental borders stamp and die set. I stamped ‘Just a Note’ onto white cardstock and die cut it. I cut a second banner and left it blank. I glued the stamped banner onto the plain banner to give it a bit more dimension before gluing it onto the card.

I’m sure this card will be appreciated when it is finally able to be mailed. I look forward to writing a nice long note in it to a dear friend.
