It’s been an extremely mild winter here in Kamloops, BC, so far. It’s mid-January and we’ve barely had any snow or cold weather. Local people have been sharing pictures of their outside plants starting to bud already. It almost feels like spring although I do hope we get some actual winter weather first.
The weather inspired my bright color choice for this card. I ink blended some picked raspberry Tim Holtz distress oxide ink onto some white cardstock. When it was dry, I cut it down to 4 x 5 ¼ inches, stuck it in one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders and ran it through my die cutting machine. This created a beautiful, bright background.
I die cut the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment using the Honey Cuts die set called Bitty Buzzwords from Honey Bee Stamps. I cut the words from black cardstock and the shadows from white and adhered them together.
I cut a black matting layer and adhered it to the card base, then adhered the pink panel on top. I added the happy birthday to the card and then chose a few black circles to adhere around the sentiment. The circles were cut from the Lawn Fawn Sequin Mix die cut set.
This bright card with the sharp black and white contrast is sure to brighten up someone’s birthday.
