Sweet Cupcake

I’m working on more birthday cards as I find there’s always a birthday card that I need to send to someone. So, here’s a sweet, simple birthday card.

I created the A2 card base (4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch) from Recollections 110lb white cardstock. Instead of creating a card front, I simply swinked (swiped ink) the entire front of the card with Catherine Pooler Tranquil ink. This is such a gentle, pretty color.

While I waited for the ink to dry, I stamped a cupcake and a candle from the Close to my Heart Cricut Artiste Collection Birthday stamp set onto white cardstock. I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp and I heat embossed using Recollections clear embossing powder. Actually, for the candle, I inked the candle in VersaFine Clair Nocturne and the flame in Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade.  When they were dry I fussy cut them out. I decided to cut the candle and flame separately.

When the card was completely dry I stamped the ‘hope your birthday’s as sweet as you’ sentiment from the same stamp set using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

To finish this card off, I glued the candle where I wanted it using Bearly Art precision glue. I then glued the cupcake in place, slightly overlapping the candle. I used a white Gelly Roll pen to draw a small wick on the candle and then glued the flame on top. I left the inside blank to allow for lots of room for a personalized message.
