We MERMAID to be Friends

We all have certain friends we just click with, those people who seem to have been born just to be our friends. Well, here’s a cute, little card for that special someone who just seems to get you no matter what.

Generally, I tend to make 4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch cards, but this time I decided to make a 5×5 inch card. Simply take your cardstock and cut it to 5×10 inches and score at the 5 inch mark lengthwise. For this card I used a turquoise 110lb cardstock from the Recollections Ocean pack for the card base. For the card front I used Recollections 110lb white cardstock cut to 4 ½ x 4 ½ inches. I did the same for the inside panel which I left blank so the sender can personalize their own message.

On the card front I used a patterned stencil from my stash. I have no idea what it’s called or where it’s from. It reminded me of mermaid scales, so it fit with my card. I centered it on my card front and used a Ranger domed foam blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Mermaid Lagoon ink. I adhered both the card front and the inside panel using Forever In Time glue tape runner.

Next, I used a leftover piece of the white cardstock and stamped my sentiment on it. The sentiment I chose is a cute mermaid tail with the words ‘We MERMAID to be friends’ from the Close to my Heart A Little Bit of Pun stamp of the month set. I stamped it using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and heat set it with Recollections clear embossing powder.

I then tore the paper in a rough square shape around the sentiment. I used the mermaid lagoon ink that was left on the foam blender to add some ink to the edges. I popped it up on the center of the card front using foam tape from my stash. I think it turned out really cute and I’m sure any friend would be happy to receive this card in the mail.
