Wild Birthday

Well, I’m back with another card made from my new African stamp set. Not surprising as I love this set so much! This time I chose to make a birthday card.

To start off, I cut a 4 x 5 ¼ inch card front from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. Using my Ranger domed foam blending tools and Tim Holtz distress oxide inks, I ink blended the card front with seedless preserves and faded jeans inks. I figured that would look really pretty with stamping in black.

Using the Safari stamp set by Crafty Individuals that came in my Creative Stamping magazine, I stamped a zebra head on the left and a giraffe head on the right. On the bottom in the center, I stamped the ‘have a wild birthday’ sentiment. All stamping was done using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set using Recollections clear embossing powder.

For the card base, I chose a light purple 110lb cardstock from the Recollections Very Violet pack. I cut and folded it to make an A2 card (4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch). I also used a piece of black cardstock to outline the card front before adhering them all together using Forever in Time double sided glue tape.

To finish it off, I cut a piece of white cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼ inch and adhered it to the inside of the card, leaving it blank so there is plenty of room to write a personalized greeting. I’m quite happy with the way this card turned out.
