Hello Friend

I am constantly learning new techniques for card making. I think learning is a continual part of life and we should never stop learning new things. Some new techniques I’m learning are more elaborate while others are more simplistic. All are pretty in their own way.

For this A2 card (4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch) I used white Recollections 110lb cardstock for the card base and the card front. I also used some black cardstock to give a nice outline effect.

I cut the white card front to 4 x 5 ¼ inches. I looked through my stash of washi tape and chose a roll that looks kind of like orange watercolor. I stuck two strips of washi tape in a diagonal direction across the white cardstock. Next, I ran this through my Gemini Jr. using the Gemini 3D Regency Swirls embossing folder. It’s a beautiful embossing folder on its own, but that splash of color from the washi tape just gives it that little extra.

Because I wanted a nice black outline on this card, I cut a piece of black cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼ inches and adhered it to the card base using Forever In Time glue tape runner. Then I trimmed my card front so I would see that nice black outline behind it. I just eyeballed it but it ended up measuring 3 ¾ x 5 inches. I adhered this onto the black layer using the same glue tape runner.

To finish this card, I die cut the words hello friend from black cardstock using the Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords dies. I adhered them onto the card using Bearly Art glue. The black words stand out nicely with that black outline.
