Washi Tape Trees

Hey friends, I’m excited for this time of year – time to make Christmas cards! I love all things Christmas and now that I make my own Christmas cards, I get to start enjoying the season earlier than I used to!

For my first Christmas card of the season, I made an A2 card from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. I cut a 4 x 5 ¼ inch card front from the same cardstock. I chose two of my tree cutting dies from a set of three trees I got at Michaels. I positioned them where I wanted them on the card front and adhered them with mint tape and ran the panel through my Gemini Jr. This left me with a card panel with two trees cut out of it.

I positioned the card front on the card panel where I wanted it to go, then I took a pencil and very lightly traced the outlines of the two trees.

I went through my drawer of Christmas washi tapes which are all from Michaels. I picked several red and green washi tapes. I taped them to the card base in a slight diagonal direction over the two trees.

I decided to go with a ‘peace on earth’ sentiment in the top right corner of the card front. I used VersaFine Clair tulip red ink and heat set it with Recollections ruby tinsel embossing powder. It gives a beautiful shimmer in the light.

To adhere the card front to the card base I used Craft double sided glue tape. This was a fairly simple card that turned out very nice. I think I may make some similar ones with some gold or silver washi tapes.

To finish the card off, I stamped ‘Merry Christmas and happy new year’ from the Gina K. Designs sketched wreath builder stamp set on the inside of the card using Close To My Heart black ink.

I’m sure I’ll be making many more Christmas cards over the next while. Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
