Pink and Blue Holy Night

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out my blog 😊Today I have another Christmas card, although I didn’t use traditional Christmas colors this time. I went for pink, blue, and black and I love how it turned out!

As usual, I started with an A2 card base made from Recollections white dove 110lb cardstock. It’s a slightly creamier white than the actual white cardstock. I chose it because I chose to go with watercolor paper for the card front and it matched better.

For the card front, I cut some watercolor paper to 4 x 5 ¼ inches. Now it was time to have fun and get messy! I smooshed some Tim Holtz distress oxide seedless preserves ink onto my glass mat and spritzed a bit of water on it. Next, I took my watercolor paper and smooshed it into the wet ink, pressing down to make sure I got a good splotch of pink ink onto the paper. Next, I grabbed a plastic wrapper from a stamp set and smooshed some Tim Holtz distress oxide salty ocean onto it and spritzed it with water. I turned it over and smooshed it down onto the watercolor paper panel and smooshed it around where I wanted it to go. I like using the plastic wrapper as it’s see through and I can move the ink where I want it. Plus, it’s super easy to clean off the wrapper.

I allowed the card front to dry for a while before coming back to it. Using the same two inks, I stamped parts of this beautiful music sheet stamp I picked up somewhere along the way. No idea what brand it is or where it’s from, but it’s really pretty. I just randomly stamped parts of it over the ink splotches.

I used my three tree cutting dies from Michaels and cut them out of black cardstock. I decided I also wanted a black outline around the card front so I cut some black cardstock to just larger than the card front.

For the sentiment, I chose ‘O Holy Night’ from a Christmas sentiment stamp set I got at Michaels. I stamped it in the top left corner using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink.

To adhere the card front to the black panel, I used Craft double sided glue tape. I used the same adhesive to adhere that to the card base.

I positioned the black trees on the card where I wanted them to go and adhered them using Bearly Art precision glue. I used the same glue to add three little pink gems around the trees. The gems are from a diamond painting kit. I find those gems are the perfect size for cards and they come in so many colors.

To finish the card off, I stamped a simple Merry Christmas sentiment on the inside using Close To My Heart black ink. I really like how this nontraditional card turned out.
