Merry Christmas Wreath

Hey everyone, since my last couple of Christmas cards have been in pink and blue, I’ve gone with a more traditional one this time. This one includes red and green!

This A2 (4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch) card is made from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. For the panel, I found this pretty light brown/beige scrapbook paper. It has a kind of distressed look to it. I had planned to splatter white paint on the finished card, so this distressed paper worked great. I trimmed the paper to 4 x 5 ¼ inches and attached it to the card base using a Forever In Time glue tape runner.

My goal for this card was to have a wreath with a Christmas sentiment in it. I only own one wreath die cut but it says happy birthday. So, I ran it through my Gemini Jr. with brown cardstock. It was fairly easy to snip out the happy birthday with my little scissors as it was only attached in a couple of places. I glued the wreath to the center of the card panel using Bearly Art glue.

I have a pretty, little handwritten Merry Christmas die cut from Michaels that I die cut using red cardstock. I used the same cardstock to die cut some small poinsettia flowers as well as a little holly berry twig. I cut the berries off the twig as I only wanted the berries to be red. I used green cardstock to die cut another holly berry twig as well as a some small leaves.

To decorate the wreath, I positioned the flowers and leaves on the bottom right side of the wreath and the holly berry twig on the top left side. I glued the red holly berries over top of the green ones and glued that down to the wreath. I then glued the flowers and leaves where I wanted them. The final thing to glue down was the sentiment which fit perfectly inside the wreath.

To give the flowers and berries that little extra touch, I used a metallic gold pen to add a few dots. The final touch on this card was taking a tiny blob of white acrylic paint, mixing in a bit of water, and with a paintbrush, splattering some white paint over the whole card. It gives it a bit of a snowy effect.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this card. I enjoyed making it. See you at the next Christmas card!
