Gift of Joy

Hey everyone! I hope you’re enjoying this joyful time leading up to Christmas. I sure am! I know for some this can be a stressful season or a very sad season. It’s so important to be a beacon of peace, hope, and joy for those who are struggling to find it on their own. Today’s card is a gift of joy and I hope whoever receives it finds a moment of joy through it.

I started with my usual A2 card base made from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. With the same cardstock I cut a panel to 4 x 5 ¼ inches. I ran that through my Gemini Jr. using a polka dot embossing folder.

I decided I wanted the polka dot panel to have silver splatters all over, so I got out my distress mica spray in brushed pewter as well as my handy dandy little cardboard box I use for ink splatters and sprays. I put the panel in the box, shook up the mica spray, but instead of spraying it on the panel, I unscrewed the lid and took the top off, using the tube inside to splatter the ink on. Then I set the panel aside to dry. I did end up hurrying the drying process along a bit with my heating tool a bit later on.

I found a beautiful JOY sentiment from one of my Christmas stamp sets and stamped it on another panel using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set it with Wow metallic silver embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment out with the second smallest curved rectangle die from Spellbinders Nestabilities dies.

The next thing I did was to trim down the polka dot card panel. Sometimes I measure and then cut and sometimes I just eyeball it. Today was an eyeball it day. The panel ended up being 3 5/8 x 4 3/4 inches.

As I laid things where I wanted them, I quickly realized this card needed a pop of color, so I found some shiny red ribbon to use. I ended up cutting two pieces of ribbon – one to go vertically and one to go horizontally. I cut them slightly longer than the panel so I could glue the ends to the back side of the panel. The Bearly Art glue worked great for that. Gluing the ribbons in this way made the panel look like a present.

To put the card all together I used a mixture of Bearly Art glue and Forever In Time glue tape to adhere the panel to the card base. I popped the sentiment up on foam tape to give it a bit of dimension. And this beautiful joy card is done.

Remember, during this Christmas season and beyond, be intentional about being joy for those around you. Show people how valuable they are. Everyone wants to be loved.
