Black and Silver Christmas

This Christmas card was so easy to make and took very little time. I started with an A2 card that I made from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. I tend to make a stack of A2 cards occasionally, so I have plenty on hand.

Since I have such a large supply of Christmas scrapbook paper (not to mention the mountains I have that are not Christmas themed) I browsed through my stash and chose two that I thought complemented each other well. I found a small piece of silver paper that had an embossed texture on it. I had a few sheets of black paper with white branches and pinecones on it. I cut the black piece down to 4 x 5 ¼ inches. The silver piece didn’t need to be trimmed at all. In fact, when I lined the silver piece up on the black piece, I found that the silver piece was a smidgen too short. That was an easy fix as I simply trimmed the black piece to fit.

I wanted the sentiment to be on white paper, so I took some white cardstock and a circle cutting die and ran that through my Gemini Jr die cutting machine.

I found a Christmas sentiment in the Gina K. Designs sketched wreath builder stamp set and stamped that in the center of the circle using VersaFine Clair tulip red ink. I heat set it using Recollections Ruby Tinsel embossing powder.

Now all that was needed was to assemble the card. I used Forever In Time glue tape runner to adhere the black cardstock to the card base, leaving a nice white border around the card. I used the same glue tape runner on the silver piece, but because it is a different type of cardstock, the tape was pulling up a bit, so I added some Bearly Art glue and stuck it down. To finish it off, I popped up the sentiment on foam tape.

It was a super easy card to make but still turned out elegant. I hope you enjoyed it too. Stay tuned for some more Christmas cards.
