Since birthdays are something that happen every day, birthday cards are very popular. It’s always nice to celebrate someone’s special day.
To create this card, I used the birthday basics stamp set by Simon Hurley which I got from my local scrapbook store, Aall Scrapbook Essentials – Home. This stamp set has several sentiments as well as a beautiful cake with a floral design, some presents, balloons, and a strip of confetti. I chose to use the presents and balloon with the ‘WISH BIG!’ sentiment.
I stamped the presents on a white cardstock panel and colored them with copic markers. The silver dots were colored with a purple/silver Ohuhu outline marker.
I stamped three solid balloons on scrap cardstock using three different distress oxide inks – faded jeans, villainous potion, and squeezed lemonade. I then stamped the balloon outline over each one with black ink.
I cut out the balloons and went along the edges with a black marker to hide any imperfections from the cutting. I cut some black twine and taped it to the backs of each balloon. I tied two balloons together.
I cut the white panel with the presents on it to 4 x 5 ¼ inches. I arranged the balloons where I wanted them so I could line up my sentiment stamp which I stamped with black ink.
Before adhering the panel to the card base, I swinked (swiped ink) the edges of the card with faded jeans distress oxide ink. When the ink was dry, I adhered the panel to the card.
To give the balloons a bit of dimension, I cut out two ovals slightly smaller than the balloons using scrap cardstock. I glued them to the backs of two balloons and glued those to the card. I wanted the third balloon to be popped up a bit more, so I used foam tape. For the final detail on this card, I added a white mark to each balloon using a white gelly roll pen. And that’s it for this card.
