It is true that we create our world with our thoughts. Or we could say that our focus determines our future. It’s important what we choose to think about. Every human being goes through positive circumstances and negative circumstances. It’s up to each of us to determine how we process through them. This card can be a great way to encourage someone.
I created this card as part of the fall design team for my local scrapbook store, Aall Scrapbook Essentials. Feel free to check them out here https://aallscrapbookessentials.com/index.html or visit in person if you’re in the Kamloops, BC, area.
I started this card by stamping this large Hero Arts abstract criss cross bold print stamp with WOW embossing ink and clear embossing powder, then heat setting it. This gives me the ability to blend ink over the panel and the ink will resist the embossing. I used salty ocean distress oxide ink and a blending brush to add some blue to the panel.
Next, I used this gorgeous Travel the World die by Uniquely Creative. I cut it from white cardstock and sprayed antiqued bronze distress mica spray over it. While that was drying, I cut a circle from vellum using the Spellbinders Postage Edge Circles die set. When the mica spray was dry, I adhered the die cut to the vellum using Bearly Art Precision Glue. I then adhered the vellum to the panel, just adding glue under the die cut so it isn’t visible through the vellum. I glued it slightly off the left side of the panel and then cut off the excess.
The sentiment I chose comes from a set by Alex Syberia designs called Self-Care Sentiments. I absolutely love this stamp set! I bought the coordinating die set too which I also used on this card. I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder. I cut it out with the coordinating die.
Before adhering everything together, I chose to add the same salty ocean distress oxide ink to the edges of the card base. When that was dry, I adhered the panel to the card base and adhered the sentiment. I love the bronze with the blue – so pretty.
All these products I used on this card are so versatile. They can be used on cards of many different occasions or in scrapbooking, journaling, etc. I’m excited to use them again in the future. And I hope this card inspires us all to pay attention to our thought life. We choose what we focus on. Let’s make healthy choices.
