Hey friends! I hope your day is filled with wonder, joy, and creativity. I’ve sure been enjoying my crafty space – lots going on in my craft room lately.
I have recently joined some hops on Instagram which I am totally loving! I’m not sure how I went this long without joining any. If you haven’t done any Instagram hops yet, be careful! It’s addicting (in a good way)! I have only participated in one so far, but I am signed up for a few more.
One of the hops I’ve joined is rainbow themed and it’s called Rainbow Connection. I’m quite excited about it because I love all the colors of the rainbow and because it’s one that will challenge me. The card for this hop has to be clean and simple, leaving at least 2/3 of the card completely white. It should also have minimal layers and embellishments, and one focal point.
I have been practicing making clean and simple rainbow cards and this is the first one I’ve made. I basically masked off a strip of the card and ink blended distress oxide inks to create a rainbow. The ink colors I used were candied apple, mustard seed, salty ocean, and wilted violet.
When the ink was dry, I stamped a floral stamp over the rainbow with black ink. The stamp was from a set from Sentimentally Yours. I took a ruler and a black Tombow pen and created a border for the top and bottom of the rainbow.
To finish the card off, I stamped and die cut the ‘You are Amazing’ sentiment from the Sentimental Banners set by Poppy Stamps. I added three black diamond art gems for a small bit of embellishment.
I don’t often leave that much white space on my cards but I do think it looks very nice, definitely clean and simple. I think this will be a fun challenge for me as I participate in this Rainbow Connection hop.
