Today is October 1st and I am thoroughly welcoming the fall season. Fall is my absolute favorite! While I do enjoy every season, I love that fall is a very welcomed break from the extreme heat of summer. I love the windy days and the cooler evenings. I love seeing the leaves change from their bright green to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red. Watching the trees prepare for the winter season can teach us much about how to prepare for the different seasons life brings about but that’s a whole other story.
Today’s card, while not completely a fall card, still gives me those fall vibes. There are a few fall leaves on this card but there are definitely fall colors.
To start off with, I cut a piece of cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5 inches. I went through my abundance of washi tape and found these ones that had fall colors and a forest theme. I lined them up on the panel, folding the edges around to the back.
To give this card a bit of texture, I ran it through an embossing folder from my stash. I got it second hand, so I have no idea what it’s called. It has a beautiful texture on it that reminds me of a cozy sweater.

Using ground espresso distress oxide ink, I swiped the ink pad around the four sides of the card base so the border will be a nice dark brown which makes me think of crispy brown leaves. I adhered the panel to the card base using Bearly Art glue.
For the sentiment, I chose the words hello friend and used the Bitty Buzzwords die set from Honey Bee Stamps. I cut the words from black cardstock and the shadows from a tan colored vellum. Once I glued the words to the shadows, I glued them to the card.
I hope you’re enjoying whatever season of life you’re in right now. And if, perhaps, you’re going through a harsh season right now, remember that seasons change.
