Retro Phones

Hey friends! I created three cards using a stamp set with adorable retro phones. I remember using these kinds of phones when I was a kid. We even had a party line back in the day. While there is nostalgia in those memories, I am thankful for the technology we have today.

I created these cards based on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches: Freshly Made Sketches #730 – A Sketch by Judy and as soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use these retro phones. The stamp set is by Studio Light and I believe it is called Hello Friendz. There are three phone images as well as several hello sentiments.

I cut a few different colours of scrapbook paper scraps to 5 ½ inches then tore the right sides of them and glued them to A2 card bases.

There are two overlapping squares on this sketch, so I chose to cut white squares for the top squares for each card. For the bottom squares, I chose colours based on the color of the ripped strip. On the white squares, I stamped the retro phone stamps in colours that matched each card.

Before adhering the squares, I lined them up where I wanted them, then stamped the sentiment on each card base. Each card has a different sentiment from the same stamp set.

Finally, I glued the squares in place on each card, then decided to add a few gems. Each card has the gems placed in different places: one beside the squares, one on the squares, and one on the phone.

This was a fun sketch to play along with. Remember, inspiration can be found anywhere, whether it be a sketch, a colour palette, something you see in nature, etc. Let your inspiration flow and have fun with it!
