Just a Note

Hey friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve been on here. I’ve been enjoying the beautiful spring weather – blue skies, flowers blooming, and birds serenading me outside my window. My craft desk sits right against the wall, looking out the window at the front yard with the beautiful Cinnamon Ridge hoodoos across the road. It’s common to see eagles soaring above the ridge as I craft. In my front yard I have many robins, finches, sparrows, doves, red winged blackbirds, mountain bluebirds, flickers, ruby-crowned kinglets, dark-eyed juncos, red tailed hawks, and many more. Sometimes one will perch on the ledge of my window and look at me. Maybe he’s checking to see what I’m creating?

Birds were definitely an inspiration for this card. I used an older stamp set by Simon Says Stamp called Cozy Wishes. It features several birds, bird houses, and a beautiful mailbox and letters. I chose a bird house, a bird, and a letter, stamping them on white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink. I kept the stamps in the same position in my MISTI so I could restamp after colouring.

I coloured the images with Ohuhu markers, then restamped them using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink for a nice, crisp image. I can’t rave enough about VersaFine Clair inks! I love them!

I have no idea if there is a coordinating die for this set but the images are quite easy to fussy cut so I cut them out. I used a black marker to go around the edges so as to not see the white edges from cutting.

I wanted to make this a clean and simple card for the challenge found here: Addicted to CAS: Addicted to CAS #306 – Postage

I figured a touch of yellow ink blending behind the image would add that extra something, so I placed the image on the card, towards the left, to see where I should blend the ink. I gently added a light yellow ink behind where the house would sit. I then stamped the sentiment in its place, resting just under the ledge where the little bluebird would sit.

Finally, I glued everything in place – the bird house, the bird sitting on the little ledge, and a letter in his beak.

Now, back to crafting and listening to the birds sing. Do you enjoy hearing the birds where you live?
