Hey friends! We’re approaching a new month, and I like to get my birthday cards made for the upcoming month, so I have them ready to pop into the mail. That doesn’t always happen and sometimes I end up having to make belated birthday cards, but I decided to start on some anyway.
I created this card for the new challenge at Addicted to CAS with the code word this time being PATTERN. At first, my idea was to cut a square or rectangle from my stash of patterned paper. I thought one that was checkered, or plaid might be nice, but while I was looking through my supplies, I found this narrow embossing folder that I’ve never used before. I’m sure it came in a bundle of craft supplies I got off Marketplace. I quite liked the pattern on it, so I decided to go in that direction.
I embossed a thin strip of cardstock in that narrow folder and placed it on a white card so I could see where to place my sentiment. I fairly recently purchased the Birthday Wishes stamp and die set by Alex Syberia designs which has a few different fonts of happy birthday sentiments. I chose a small scripty happy and a larger bolder birthday. I placed the card in my MISTI stamp positioner and placed the sentiments towards the bottom right. I stamped them using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink.
Next, I applied glue to the embossed strip and adhered it towards the left of the card. And there is one of my birthday cards completed for the month of July. But I didn’t stop there!

I decided to make a similar card, but this time make an anniversary card as I must send one out very soon. I followed the same steps as the first card but instead stamped happy anniversary.
Before gluing the embossed panel down, I splattered it with Spellbinders sparkle splatter effects. After gluing the strip in place, I added three small silver self adhesive crystals by Spellbinders near the sentiment. This just gives the card a little more bling which I figured was fitting for an anniversary card.
I love all the different ways we can incorporate the code words into our projects, and I hope you’ll play along with us at Addicted to CAS. I’d love to see what you create!
