Silent Night

This is one of my favorite Christmas cards this year. I just love the sparkly paper the trees were cut from. It reminds me of a cold winter’s day in a forest of trees with a light dusting of snow sparkling in the sun.

I made the A2 card from Recollections white 110lb cardstock. For the 4 x 5 ¼ inch panel, I chose to use a beautiful dark green scrapbook paper with light green snowflakes on it. I adhered it to the panel using Craft double sided glue tape.

I have this beautiful tree die set that I picked up at Michael’s last year. There are three trees in the set, one slightly larger than the other two. I used my Gemini Jr. to die cut them out of a gorgeous ombre glitter cardstock that goes from a beautiful green into silver. This paper is perfect for the trees! I glued two trees onto the card using Bearly Art glue and I popped the third one up on foam tape.

For the sentiment I chose a beautiful ‘Silent Night’ and stamped it onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and heat set it with Recollections clear embossing powder. I then used the smallest die in the Spellbinders Nestabilities mega classic scalloped ovals set to die cut out the sentiment. I glued it onto the card using Bearly Art glue.

There’s just something about this card that warms my heart. It reminds me of the many years as a kid going out into the bush with my dad and my sister to pick out the perfect Christmas tree. Christmas trees still always remind me of my dad. He sure loved Christmas and he definitely passed that on to his kids.
