Ombre Anniversary Card

Hey friends! Today I’ve got a clean and simple anniversary card to show you. I made this card for the new challenge at Addicted to CAS in which the new code word is ‘ANNIVERSARY’.

I pulled out an old Close To My Heart stamp set that has the words ‘happy anniversary’ as well as some roses.

I really wanted to try the ombre technique that my friend, Jerralyn, often uses on her sentiments. If you’ve never seen her amazing cards, you’re missing out! You can find her here: http://www.youtube.com/@jerralynrose She truly does the most amazing ombre sentiments, often on the insides of her cards as well. She’s inspired me to try it out today.

To start, I used the Paper Rose stitched rectangle dies to cut out a panel. I placed the panel in my MISTI and used kitsch flamingo distress oxide ink to stamp the larger rose on the top right corner of the panel. Using picked raspberry distress oxide ink; I stamped two smaller roses on the bottom left corner of the panel.

Next, I lined up the ‘happy’ stamp in my MISTI and stamped it with the kitsch flamingo ink.

And now for the ombre! I lined up the ‘anniversary’ stamp in my MISTI and first stamped it with the kitsch flamingo ink. Easy peasy! I then inked up the bottom half of the stamp with the picked raspberry ink and stamped it, repeating a couple of times until I was happy with how it looked.

This ombre technique is really easy to do, especially on a larger sentiment. I’m glad I tried it, and I can see myself doing it more in the future.

To complete this card, I cut another panel slightly larger than the stamped panel to be a mat layer. I inked the top half with kitsch flamingo and the bottom half with picked raspberry. I glued the panel to the mat layer and the whole thing to the card base.

I thought of adding a few gems but decided not to in order to keep this as clean and simple as possible.

I hope you’ll come play along with us at Addicted to CAS. I’d love to see your creations!
